Utica, NY – General Manager Tommy Tanner and Utica City FC announced the acquisition of defender Stefan Mijatovic from the St. Louis Ambush in exchange for future considerations.

He returned to the league with the Orlando SeaWolves for the 2018-19 season, making five appearances and then joined the Florida Tropics.

He’s got great speed, strength and also shooting ability. I coached him in the past and I really believe that he is coming to cause a very positive impact in our squad.”

For the last two seasons he has played for St. Louis. In 2021 he appeared in 13 games, tallying 8 goals and 3 assists. So far this season, Mijatovic has played in six contests with three points (2 goals, 1 assist).

Mijatovic said he was incredibly excited for the new opportunity. “I’m happy to be reunited with Coach Hewerton, and play with a lot of familiar faces I already know. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this organization, and I’m thrilled to see what the future holds for us. I can’t wait to meet all the fans, and go to battle with all my new teammates this weekend. Let’s get to work.”

Mijatovic will join Utica City at practice Wednesday morning, and will be available for media by request this week.

Utica City returns home on January 29th to take on the Baltimore Blast. Tickets are available for the 2pm kickoff.
