Nottingham Forest are ramping up their efforts to sign PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas on loan in what would be their 26th signing of the season… with Dean Henderson sidelined with a thigh injury

  • Nottingham Forest are focused on bringing Keylor Navas to the City Ground
  • The club are looking at a loan for the PSG keeper after Dean Henderson’s injury
  • Navas has vast experience after winning three Champions League titles

Keylor Navas heads the list of goalkeepers Nottingham Forest would like to sign before the January transfer window closes.

Forest are keen to bolster their options in the position after Dean Henderson, on loan from Manchester United, sustained a thigh injury in the win over Leicester on January 14 and it is unclear when he will return.

Navas, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, is hugely experienced and won the Champions League three times during his five seasons with Real Madrid.

With Gianluigi Donnarumma the clear first choice for the French champions this term, the 36-year-old has yet to make an appearance in the league or the Champions League.

Navas’ only high-level action this term was during Costa Rica’s World Cup campaign, when he played all three group games.

Wayne Hennessey deputised for Henderson in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth and is expected to feature against Manchester United in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at the City Ground.

Since Henderson was injured, Forest have been scouring the goalkeeper market and are believed to have been offered Dominik Livakovic, though the Croatia goalkeeper has a price tag of about £15million and it is thought likelier he will leave Dinamo Zagreb in the summer.

Forest have already added midfielder Danilo, playmaker Gustavo Scarpa and forward Chris Wood in this transfer window, after adding 23 players following promotion last summer. They are also looking for a winger.
