Fabrizio Romano pours cold water on Harry Kane, Man Utd links: ‘He’s focused on Tottenham’

Fabrizio Romano on Harry Kane

Manchester United are not in talks to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Kane has been Tottenham’s best player for several years now but has been able to turn his goals into silverware with the club’s last trophy win coming in 2008.

The England captain has helped the north Londoners reach the League Cup final twice and the Champions League final in 2018-19, but failed to get his team over the line.

Given his incredible ability, but lack of team success, Kane’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been cast in doubt.

Manchester City made an attempt to sign him in 2021, but Spurs stood firm and would not let their star player leave for below £150million.

Writing in his CaughtOffside column, Romano insists the England talisman is “focused on Tottenham” with talks over a new contract ‘slowly’ going on behind the scenes.

The Italian journalist wrote: “Manchester United will explore many situations for a top striker in June, but at the moment I’m not aware of contacts between Harry Kane and any other club.

“He’s focused on Tottenham, conversations over a new deal are still slow and so it’s normal to have rumours but Antonio Conte’s future is also going be crucial to understand Kane’s plans.

“I know there’s lot of noise on this but Man United hope to have new owners, probably new people into the board as happened with Chelsea… Man United is always in the news with those stories but the reality is that nothing is decided now on who’s going to be the new striker.

“There will be many options and for sure, and Erik ten Hag will be involved in the process of identifying the best target.”

Romano also provided an update on the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The right-back seemed to be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford but has come into some good form in recent weeks.

With Diogo Dalot out injured, Ten Hag has put his faith in Wan-Bissaka amidst…
