New Chelsea signing Noni Madueke has named Eden Hazard as his favourite Blues player from the past upon completing his transfer from PSV Eindhoven.
Madueke has never played professionally in his native England but was born in London, moving to Eindhoven when he was 16 after time in the academies at both Crystal Palace and Tottenham.
The 20-year-old represents another major addition to Chelsea’s long-term recruitment goal, dubbed ‘Vision 2030’ as they continue to mop up as much young talent as possible in the hope of developing them into superstars of the future.
Madueke is left-footed but plays from the right flank.
“I started off as a central midfielder and then transitioned to right wing, maybe when I was 16 or 17,” the player told club media in his first interview as a Chelsea player.
I like to get the ball and be exciting, take players on, beat players, create a lot and score.
Asked to name his standout former Chelsea player, Madueke plumped for Hazard because of the type of player he was for the club and the ‘similarities’ to his own game.
“I’d probably have to say Eden Hazard…just a get you off your seat type of player,” he said.
“So exciting in terms of the flare to take people off their seats and create. There is defo similarities, but I hope to be as good as him one day.”
