New England Revolution sign January arrivals Latif Blessing & Dave Romney to new contracts

The New England Revolution have signed recent arrivals Latif Blessing and Dave Romney to new contracts, the club announced Wednesday.

Both players were acquired via trade earlier this month, with Blessing moving from LAFC while Romney joined from Nashville SC. The Revs have signed the players to two-year contracts through the 2024 MLS season with club options on 2025.

The two contracts have been secured using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM).

Blessing spent the last five seasons with the Black and Gold after originally arriving in MLS with Sporting Kansas City. The 26-year-old played 167 games for LAFC across all competitions, scoring 18 goals and assisting another 18, while helping the club lift MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield titles.

Romney, meanwhile, has extensive experience as an MLS defender, playing over 200 games during combined spells with the LA Galaxy and Nashville, while also earning call-ups from the United States at youth level.

The Revs are looking to return to the MLS Cup Playoffs after missing out in 2022, finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference having won the Supporters’ Shield the year prior.
