Washington, D.C. – Washington Spirit midfielder Jordan Baggett has re-signed with the team on a new two-year contract with a team option for 2025, the club announced today. The new contract will take effect immediately, replacing Baggett’s current contract which contained a recently-exercised 2023 team option.

Baggett appeared in 12 total matches for the Spirit in 2022, tallying one goal and one assist in over 500 minutes of playing time. During her rookie season in 2019, Baggett played over 1,700 minutes in 22 appearances and scored four goals.

“The Spirit is an exceptional club with great leadership and world-class talent,” said Baggett. “I’m thrilled to be here and to continue to call DC home.”

Originally from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Baggett attended Stanford University before being drafted by the Spirit with the third overall pick in 2019. In four seasons with the Cardinal, Baggett tallied 31 goals and 23 assists across 92 appearances, being named the Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year following her senior campaign. Baggett also earned All-Pac-12 honors three times in her career, including a First Team nod in 2018.

“Jordan has worked very hard on getting back to full fitness and we are all excited to see a fresh start from her in 2023,” said Head Coach Mark Parsons. “She has the ability to cause damage to opponents in many ways from the midfield and we can’t wait to see her bring her qualities.”
