January 12, 2023 – United Soccer League Championship (USL)Orange County SC News Release

Orange County SC today announced the newest addition to the 2023 roster, completing the signing of Southern Californian defender Owen Lambe. After a standout season with LA Galaxy II, Lambe will make the short trip down the 405 to join the Black and Orange.

The 22-year-old Santa Barbara native made 61 appearances for LA Galaxy II and had one appearance for the senior team in the U.S. Open Cup. Against the California United Strikers FC in the Round of 32, Lambe scored a goal in a 3-2 victory at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of this club and am looking forward to playing in games in front of energetic fans at Championship Soccer Stadium,” Lambe said. “I have good memories of playing in OC and hope to continue to build on that and create more exciting moments for this club and community.”

Lambe made 32 appearances last year for Los Dos, all of them starts, and chipped in eight assists. While he spent the majority of his time in defense at right-back, Lambe also made appearances in the midfield, which will add more versatility to the OCSC lineup.

“We are excited to add Owen, a very talented and dynamic fullback to our roster,” OCSC General Manager and President of Soccer Operations Oliver Wyss said. “We are convinced that Owen has the ability to play on the next level, and we are looking forward to seeing him excel on and off the field in Orange County!”

Prior to making his professional debut with LA Galaxy II, Lambe played one collegiate season at California State University, Fullerton. He saw his collegiate career cut short by the pandemic in 2020, but saw action in 19 matches in 2019. He tallied two match-winning goals and an assist for the Titans in his lone season, and was named to the Big West Conference All-Freshman team.

“Owen has been one of the leading fullbacks in the league over the past two seasons,” OCSC Sporting Director Peter Nugent said. “His athleticism and creativity in the final third will be a valuable asset to us this season. We are delighted he decided to choose Orange County to continue his professional development.”
