Sanchez Adds Co-Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Year

BOULDER – The goalkeeper position just became a little more crowded for the Buffaloes’ 2023 season. Head coach Danny Sanchez announced the transfer signing of former Oklahoma State keeper Jordan Nytes on Saturday.

Nytes, a Colorado native, graduated from Grandview H.S., in 2022 and spent her first collegiate season in Stillwater. She continues the trend of Coloradans returning to their home state to play for the Buffaloes, adding to the list that includes the recent likes of Civana Kuhlmann, Dani Hansen, Tatum Barton, Sofia Weiner, Gabbi Chapa and Megan Massey.

“Jordan had a fantastic season at Oklahoma State,” Sanchez stated. “She has great hands and feet. Her distribution is excellent. Jordan will really grow as a goalkeeper working with [associate head coach] Jason [Green].”

Nytes became the first-ever Cowgirl to earn Big 12 Goalkeeper of the year accolades, which she split with West Virginia’s Kayza Massey. She was also the first Oklahoma State freshman to earn First-Team All-Conference and the sixth to be named All-Big 12.

She started all 17 matches she appeared in last season and played 1,475 minutes in net for the Cowgirls. Nytes authored six solo shutouts and was a part of three others. Her six shutouts tied for the eighth most in OSU history. She boasted a Big-12 best .841 save%, allowing just 11 goals against and making 58 saves. Nytes wrapped up the season with a 0.96 goals-against average.

Nytes played club for Real Colorado and led her team to three conference titles and two ECNL regional championships. She led Grandview to the 5A state champions and a 17-1-2 record in her senior season. Nytes went on to be named the Gatorade Colorado Girls Soccer Player of the Year and earned Just Women’s Sports All-America First Team honors. She recorded 15 shutouts and allowed five goals in 20 games for the Wolves.

She was listed as a four-star recruit by TopDrawerSoccer.com and was No. 129 on the IMG 150. Nytes was ranked the No. 15 goalie prospect nationally and was the No. 19 overall recruit in the Rocky Mountain and Southwest Region.

Nytes will join the keeper corps which includes Bella Grust, Lindsey Smith and incoming freshman Jamie Campbell.
