Blackburn Rovers player Ben Brereton Diaz has been linked with a move to the Premier League since last summer and now West Ham and Everton are both reportedly battling for his signature.
The 23-year-old has been in prolific form for Rovers since joining the club on an initial loan spell in 2018, later making the move permanent, but is now keen to play at a higher level.
The striker is out of contract at the end of the season, but an offer of £20m may still be required to secure his services in January, while journalist Dean Jones has claimed that West Ham are in a good position to get their man.
The Chilean international has gone from strength to strength with the Lancashire club, where he has now established himself as one of the best goalscorers in the Championship.
Brereton Diaz scored an impressive 22 goals in 37 league appearances last season, which has been his best campaign to date, while this season, he has already scored nine in 23 outings, also contributing three assists.
Jones claimed recently that there are a “ridiculous” amount of clubs in for the Blackburn man in January, but West Ham are in a “pretty good position”.

A move for Brereton Diaz could be a smart move for the Hammers.
Despite spending a combined £155m in the summer they find themselves just one point away from the drop zone, so they definitely need quality reinforcements in January.
In particular, their marquee striker signing Gianluca Scamacca has struggled to find form this season, scoring just two goals in 13 appearances so far, despite costing a hefty £36m.
However, Jones also said a move for Brereton Diaz would make sense for Frank Lampard’s Everton, as the English boss eyes more attacking recruits this winter.
“Getting a new striker in is really important for them and it’s definitely something that they’re looking at,” Jones added.
“Brereton Diaz would take a really strong bid from Everton to get him because there is such a high level of interest around him at the moment. I know that Everton like him – that’s definitely the case.”
Like West Ham, Everton are also just one point above the relegation zone. They have also scored the second-least amount of goals in the Premier League this season, so changing that is…
