Alabama Coaching Staff Tabbed United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region Staff of the Year


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Wes Hart and the Alabama soccer staff was tabbed as the United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region Staff of the Year. Along with Hart, associate head coach Mike Piserchio, assistant coach Jerrod Roh and volunteer coach Ashleigh Ellenwood each earned the recognition.

Under Hart’s leadership, the Crimson Tide is in the midst of its best season in program history. In a year of firsts, Alabama is making its College Cup debut on Friday when the team kicks off against UCLA in the second semifinal match in Cary, N.C. It’s first time the Tide has captured more than one win in the same NCAA Tournament, in addition to being the first year UA has competed as a No. 1 seed and hosted a tournament game.

In addition to its current run, the Crimson Tide won its first-ever SEC regular season title, putting together a perfect 10-0 run in conference action. Hart led the Tide to an SEC Tournament championship appearance, the team’s second in program history and first since 1995. Additionally, Alabama will finish the year with a perfect 13-0 home record as the team recorded its 20th consecutive win at home in the NCAA quarterfinals against Duke.

The Crimson Tide has set season records for points (220), goals (76), assists (68), shots (528), shots on goal (224), wins (23) and shutouts (12) in 2022.
