Wake Forest Opens ACC Tournament Play Hosting Virginia Tech at Spry Stadium


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In a rematch of a contest that took place in the first month of the regular season, the No. 4 seeded Wake Forest men’s soccer team will host No. 12 seeded Virginia Tech on Sunday afternoon in an ACC Tournament quarterfinals match at Spry Stadium. 

Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the match will air nationally on ACC Network.

Gates open one hour prior to kickoff for all home matches. 

Wake Forest Athletics is committed to providing the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina within a safe and fan-friendly environment. Wake Forest Men’s Soccer patches will be given away to the first 200 fans in attendance at Spry ahead of Sunday’s postseason match. 

Additionally, the first 1,000 tickets for Wake Forest students are free and can be claimed through the Screamin’ Demon Rewards app.  

Ticket Information

Tickets for Sunday’s match are on sale now starting at $5 on the Walt Chyzowych Alumni Hill. Additional options for the quarterfinals match include bleacher general admission at $10 and reserved chairbacks at $15. 

Wake Forest students can claim their tickets now through the Screamin’ Demons Rewards app.

The Matchup 

  • Wake Forest and Virginia Tech will meet for the second time this season after the Hokies knocked off No. 11 Louisville 2-1 on Wednesday night at the Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Family Stadium. 

  • The victory snapped a five-match losing streak for Virginia Tech and was the team’s first victory over an ACC opponent this season. 

  • It also marked the first time a 12 seed in the ACC Tournament had won a match since the conference adopted a new format in 2016. 

  • The Demon Deacons, meanwhile, secured a first round bye in the ACC Tournament following a 3-0 victory over Louisville in the regular season finale on Oct. 28.
