The hit documentary Welcome to Wrexham is set to return for a much-anticipated second season.
The show lets football fans see behind the scenes of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynold’s efforts to take Wrexham back to the Football League having been out the top four leagues since 2008.
There was concern about how McElhenney and Reynolds would be welcomed into English football given the idea of two American actors buying a club could be seen as a vanity project.
They have turned out to be very welcome and have been commended for their attitude and running of the club so far.
Warning: There could be spoilers in here, so tread lightly.
Welcome to Wrexham Season 2 is set to be available on the Disney Plus Streaming Service, as the first series was.
The new series of Welcome to Wrexham will be available in the United States on FX on Hulu. That is also where you can find McElhenney’s famous sitcom, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Australian football fans wanting to keep up with Wrexham’s progress can watch on the Disney Plus Streaming Service.
Just like the UK and Australia, the new series will be on the Disney Plus Streaming Service.
The actual date of the new series is yet to be announced. All that is known is that it won’t be until some stage in 2023.
Considering that the second series is following the 2022/23 season, they will likely not stop shooting until late spring/early summer in mid-Wales. That lends itself towards a late-summer premiere.
The first series aired in the UK on August 25 so a similar time frame appears to be in place for this season. The show aired one day sooner in the US last time.
How many episodes is Welcome to Wrexham Season 2?
No official figure has been released on episodes just yet, but the first season had 18 30-minute episodes. Eight were released over four weeks, and then two dropped each week after that.
The official trailer for the next season is yet to be released, which means that the best way to preview it is to go back and watch the first season.
Will there be a third season of Welcome to Wrexham?
It will depend on how the current season goes for the team on the field and how the second season performs.
There is certainly a lot of anticipation for the second series, and Wrexham are one point off the top of the National League after 13 games. If they do get promoted, it is hard to imagine a new season not being commissioned.
