October 16, 2022 – National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) – Racing Louisville FC News Release
In search of more experience between the posts, Racing Louisville FC goalkeeper Jordyn Bloomer will head out on loan this offseason to compete in Australia’s A-League, the clubs announced Sunday.
Bloomer, a 24-year-old coming off her rookie NWSL season, is set to join the Western Sydney Wanderers for their upcoming campaign starting in November. Racing retains the right to recall Bloomer to Louisville at any time.
“I am super excited,” Bloomer said. “I’ve heard great things about not only the league as a whole but Sydney specifically. To go out there and get minutes and game experience is really exciting. I’m looking forward to it.”
Racing selected Bloomer with the 26th pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft and signed her to a one-year contract with an option for the 2023 campaign.
The University of Wisconsin product made her pro debut in April, registering three saves in a 2-1 loss to the Houston Dash in the NWSL’s preseason Challenge Cup. She spent the regular season backing up Racing’s No. 1, Katie Lund, and working with fellow reserves Hillary Beall and Kelsey Daugherty in goalkeeper coach Sergio Gonzalez’s position group.
“Getting game experience is something that shows how much I’ve truly grown this year while training with Sergio and the rest of the goalkeepers,” Bloomer said. “It will be an exciting time for me to compete.”
A two-time Big Ten Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, Bloomer will play for a Western Sydney Wanderers squad that finished ninth in the A-League last season.
