Allegri Says Juventus Took 'First Small Step' With Derby Win

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri says he had no doubts his side would find their way out of their rut after beating rivals Torino 1-0 on Saturday.

The Bianconeri claimed their first away win of the Serie A season, albeit across town, moving up to seventh spot with 16 points from 10 games.

Dusan Vlahovic poked in the winner in the 74th minute, getting on the end of Danilo’s header from a corner.

It comes following the side’s dismal 2-0 loss away to Maccabi Haifa in the UEFA Champions League that intensified the pressure on Allegri.

“Its disappointing we had this recent spell, but sometimes situations come together and are beyond our control,” Allegri told DAZN.

“We made a first small step today to getting out of the situation, I had no doubts they would, and now we need to continue.

“Weve had a few crossroads lately. One was Salernitana, everyone knows what happened in that game, and the lads realised they needed to react.

“I was relaxed on the bench, as I saw the team had the right approach. We couldve scored earlier and had more chances, but that will come with time as we gradually improve.”

The away win was one milestone for Juventus, along with snapping a two-game scoreless run.

“We had failed to score in three of our last five matches, so it was not easy,” Allegri said. “They showed character.

“We took a lot of shots, it wasn’t an easy match. It was a balanced first half and then in the second we stepped it up, with many chances to their one. We played a match as Juventus should, compact and balanced, I saw the lads were level-headed and I congratulate them.”
