Granger Snags Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week Honors

SALT LAKE CITYMaryn Granger has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Granger’s first-ever conference player of the week award comes after she played a crucial role in the Utes’ Friday night conquest of Arizona. In the 54th minute, the sophomore from from Draper, Utah headed in her first career goal and it turned out to be the game winner in a 2-1 Utah triumph. She also played all 90 minutes on the back line, helping limit the Wildcats to just two shots on goal and preserve her team’s victory.

Granger is the first Ute to chosen as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week since Tavia Leachman was honored with the same award in November of 2019.

The next task for Granger and her teammates is a Thursday night match on the road against the Washington Huskies that will begin at 8 p.m.
