September 23, 2022 – United Soccer League Championship (USL) – Oakland Roots News Release
Oakland, CA – Oakland’s very own Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra will be joining Oakland Roots Sports Club at Laney College on Saturday, October 1, 2022 for the final home game of the season. The Youth Orchestra will perform pregame that night with special guest and new Roots Owner G-Eazy.
“Working with the youth of Oakland is a part of why I joined Roots Ownership group, to give back to the next generation of kids,” said G-Eazy. See you all on October 1st.”
Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra, led by Director Omid Zoufonoun, consists of over 90 middle school and high school music students from 46 schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. For almost 100 years, the Oakland Symphony has presented classical and symphonic music in the Bay Area and the late Music Director and Conductor Michael Morgan personified the organization’s commitment to serving its diverse population through the unique convergence of artistic excellence, community service, and education programs. The Oakland Symphony brings the best of Oakland to the most culturally diverse audience of any symphony orchestra in the nation.
“All of us at the Oakland Symphony are thrilled for this very special and truly memorable performance,” said Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra Director Omid Zoufonoun. “We thank Roots SC for this opportunity and we are excited for these young musicians for the chance to perform with G-Eazy at the last home game of the season.”
Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the performance gets underway 20 minutes before kick-off.
“We are very excited to have some of the best local youth musicians perform pregame alongside G-Eazy at our last home game of 2022,” said VP of Public Relations and Communications, Tommy Hodul. “Having grown up in Oakland I was lucky enough to not only see the positive impact the Symphony has on The Town but got the opportunity through the MUSE program in high school to receive music lessons and personally experience the impact the Orchestra has on our youth. The legacy of Michael Morgan and the Symphony using music as a force for good is what we at Oakland Roots look to emulate through sport.”
Limited tickets are still available for the last home game of 2022.
