LOS ANGELES – UCLA junior left back Tommy Silva has been named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week.
Silva helped the Bruins to a 1-0-1 weekend at Stanford and California, the program’s first unbeaten road trip to the Bay Area Pac-12 schools since 2013.
The Tucson, Ariz. native was a two-way difference-maker last week, helping UCLA keep a clean sheet at Stanford on Thursday before assisting on both of the Bruins’ goals in a 2-1 win at Cal on Sunday.
The shutout was UCLA’s third of the season, second-most in the Pac-12 Conference. Sunday’s performance in Berkeley represented the first multi-assist game in Silva’s collegiate career.
UCLA, ranked No. 15 in the country, is 4-2-1 overall on the season with a 1-0-1 mark in conference play. The Bruins are next in action on Saturday, hosting Cal State Fullerton at 7:00 p.m. PT in the first of a four-game homestand. The first 200 UCLA students through the gate at that game will receive free pizza.
