Demon Deacons Return to Unanimous No. 1 National Ranking

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Wake Forest men’s soccer team returned to a No. 1 unanimous national ranking, as the Demon Deacons topped the latest United Soccer Coaches poll along with earning the top spot from TopDrawerSoccer and College Soccer News.

Ranked in all four United Soccer Coaches polls so far this season, Wake Forest checks in at No. 1 for the 24th time under eighth-year head coach Bobby Muuss and the first time since Oct. 13, 2020.

The 24 weeks ranked No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches poll since the start of the 2015 season is most in the country over that span, followed by Clemson at 13 weeks and Maryland at 11 weeks.

So far this season, the Deacs have accumulated a 7-0-0 overall record and a 2-0-0 mark in ACC play. Entering Tuesday night’s slate of matches, Wake Forest is one of only two teams that remains unbeaten and untied during the 2022 season.

Wake Forest returns to the pitch tonight to host George Mason for a 7 p.m. start at Spry Stadium. The Demon Deacons will be looking to set a new program record for consecutive home wins in the contest at 13-straight.

The current 12-match home winning streak is the longest in the country, followed by Lipscomb’s eight-match home winning streak.

Following Tuesday’s match against George Mason, Wake Forest will close out the weekend facing No. 10 Clemson on Saturday at Historic Riggs Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
