Shannon Named Defensive Player of the Week


BOSTON – University at Albany goalkeeper Daniel Shannon has been named America East Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.  He was named alongside Offensive Player Rory O’Driscoll from New Hampshire and Rookie Maximus Barboto from NJIT.
 
Shannon earned both his first career shutout and victory in UAlbany’s last game against Penn in which the Great Danes defeated the Quakers 1-0.  Shannon’s clean sheet came with four saves while facing 21 total shots from Penn and defending against 16 Quaker corner kicks.
 
UAlbany’s season continues Tuesday at Rutgers.
