Scouting Rutgers
Rutgers is 2-1-2 overall this season with victories over Omaha and Rider.  The Scarlet Knights went 9-6-2 in 2021 and 3-4-1 in the Big Ten.  The nine victories were the highest a Rutgers team has accumulated since the 2015 season.  MD Myers leads Rutgers with five goals scored, while a total of six Scarlet Knights have found the back of the net.  Myers was named a player to watch by the Big Ten, alongside teammates Matthew Acosta and Jackson Temple, and the conference’s coaches picked the Scarlet Knights to finish fifth in the preseason poll.  Rutgers returns 23 players from last season, including 12 who started eight or more games.

Last Time Out
The Great Danes secured their first victory of the season, knocking off Penn 1-0 off a penalty kick from Domenic Baumann.  The Quakers applied tremendous pressure throughout the game, limiting UAlbany to four total shots while taking 21 of their own, and winning 16 corner kicks and allowing UAlbany only one.

Around the America East
UMBC remains unbeaten at 4-0-1, followed by Vermont jumping into second at 3-1-1 after winning each of their last two.  NJIT is 2-2-1 in third, followed by New Hampshire, riding their own two-game winning streak at 2-2-0.  Bryant is the only other team in the conference with multiple victories at 2-3-0, followed by single-win teams in UAlbany and UMass Lowell at 1-3-1 each.  Binghamton remains winless at 0-4-1.  New Hampshire, national preseason #9, has fallen out of the United Soccer Coaches poll, but UMBC is now receiving votes and two spots out of the top-25, while Vermont and UMBC sit in the top-two spots in the Northeast Regional rankings, where the Wildcats are fourth.
