Chicago Fire FC Announce Plans to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC today announced plans to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, highlighted by the Club’s Hispanic Heritage Night on Saturday, Sept. 17 as the Fire hosts Charlotte FC for the Club’s final regular season home match at Soldier Field.


The Sept. 17 Hispanic Heritage Night match will feature flags from various Latin American countries displayed throughout the stadium as fans in attendance enjoy performances from a salsa band and salsa dancers. Cafe Tola food truck will also be serving empanadas in Burnham Downs tailgate ahead of the match.

Fans are encouraged to arrive to the stadium early as the first 5,000 attendees will receive special Calavera bobbleheads. The Club will also be selling exclusive Hispanic Heritage Month merchandise, including a scarf and crew neck, all designed in-house through Second Star Creative.

At halftime of the match, the Club will recognize three local community heroes for their extraordinary work in the Hispanic community. The honorees will receive a signed jersey, field side seating and be recognized with a spotlight video during halftime.

The Fire will continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month throughout September and October, offering Spanish language classes for staff to improve communication with fans and players, and supporting local minority owned businesses with catered staff meals from local Hispanic restaurants. The Club will also take part in the 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade on Sunday, Sept. 11 and host a speaker panel with Hispanic business professionals in Chicago.

In addition, the Fire will continue to translate marketing and communications materials, matchday content and the website platform, including a full ticket-buying process, to enhance the experience of the Spanish-speaking fan base.

Next Match:

The Fire return home this Saturday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m. CT to host Inter Miami CF at SeatGeek Stadium for the Club’s Kick Childhood Cancer match. Ahead of kickoff, 11 children currently battling cancer or in remission will take part in a ceremonial kickoff, joined by the starting lineups of both teams.

Tickets to the match are available here and the contest will also be televised on WGN-TV and CF97 Live, and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM.
