Contracts
Transfers
After a double injury to strikers Sasa Kalajdzic and Raul Jimenez, Wolverhampton Wanderers have taken free agent former Chelsea forward Diego Costa on trial.
Following his release from Chelsea, former Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has joined OGC Nice on a free transfer. Which is nice, at least for the local bars who will no doubt notice a large increase in profits.
Rafinha has moved to Qatari Stars League side Al-Arabi SC on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer have released Tyler Pasher.
Injury Round Up
Wolverhampton Wanderers new signing Sasa Kalajdzic suffered a debut to forget as the Austrian striker had to come off at half-time with a knee injury that will rule him out for most, if not all of the season. The 25-year-old has an anterior cruciate ligament injury and will see a specialist to determine the extent of the problem.
Job Changes
Chelsea’s Head of International Scouts, Scott McLachlan has left the club. McLachlan had been at the Blues since 2011. It is believed he is set to take up a role with the FA.
Just 3 months after joining the club as part of the team’s new-look first-team coaching staff, Alex Clapham has left his role as Southampton’s set-piece coach. Ruben Selles is the lead coach on set-pieces for Saints and he will continue as normal despite the loss of Clapham, who has left for personal reasons.

Everton are to issue lengthy bans to two fans after incidents in the Merseyside derby on Saturday. One fan threw a bottle at Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and the second ran on to the pitch to confront the referee, Anthony Taylor. Both fans have been identified and police notified. Both Everton and Liverpool have also condemned the defacing of buildings and murals which took place the night before the game. Racist and offensive graffitti was daubed over murals of Liverpool players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold (whose mural is actually dedicated to a foodbank run by a combination of Liverpool and Everton fans) and Mohamed Salah. A joint statement from the clubs read: “Racist and offensive graffiti has been daubed across multiple sites in north Liverpool this morning around Anfield and Goodison Park. Both clubs will work together with Merseyside Police and will support the investigation in finding those responsible. Hate has no place in football.”
