COLUMBUS, Ohio – Wright State (0-2-1) makes the short trip over to Columbus Monday to take on the Buckeyes (2-0-1) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. First touch is scheduled for 7 p.m. with B1G+($) live steaming all the action.
Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State men’s soccer contests.
The Buckeyes earned a 1-0 win last Thursday on the road at Bowling Green with junior Laurence Wootton providing the offense with a late-game penalty kick. Senior Keagan McLaughlin posted his second shutout of the season in net.
The BASICS

- The Buckeyes are off to the best start of a season (2-0-1) since 2010 when the team started 4-0. The 2014 campaign started with three-consecutive ties followed by a pair of victories (2-0-3).
- Senior Keagan McLaughlin has posted back-to-back shutouts and has held opponents to just one goal over the first three games of the season. The Notre Dame transfer, has 12-career shutouts and two as a Buckeye.
- Laurence Wootton, Nathan Demian and Luciano Pechota were named to the 2022 Wolstein Classic All-Tournament Team. Wootton had a goal and an assist, Pechota recorded a pair of assists and Demian led a defense that allowed just one goal over the two games.
- The Big Ten named Wootton its Offensive Player of the Week Aug. 30 for his efforts in the Wolstein Classic.
Wootton, Deylen Vellios and Owen Sullivan are the designated captains for the 2022 season. - Dating back to the 1997 season, Ohio State is 4-0-2 in the series vs. Wright State. The game Monday is the first in the series since Sept. 4, 2017, a 2-0 win for the Buckeyes at JOMS.
- In games played at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium since it opened in 1999, Ohio State is 125-67-33.
- Six Buckeyes from the 2021 roster were named 2022 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars. Samuel Buzzas, Tommy Marusic along with returners Connor DesRoches, Devyn Etling, Thomas Gilej and Peter Van Euwen were recognized.
- Academically, the 2021 Buckeyes also were honored with 22 on the Academic All-Big Ten list and 24 as OSU Scholar Athletes.
