Casemiro was paraded around Old Trafford by Manchester United before Monday night’s clash with Liverpool, ahead of £70million switch to Old Trafford from LaLiga titans Real Madrid.

The Brazilian is set to sign a four-year deal at United, with an option of a further year, on a deal worth £375,000-a-week, and the player was unveiled at Old Trafford before making straight for Roy Keane to embrace the legendary former skipper.

Erik ten Hag’s side previously confirmed on Friday that they had reached an agreement with Los Blancos for the five-time Champions League winner, and the player bid Madridistas an emotional farewell in a press-conference on Monday.

Despite struggling to contain his emotions at Monday’s farewell press-conference, the Brazilian was able to look optimistically on his future, saying: ‘I am excited to develop at a big club like Manchester United.

‘I’m sure one day I’ll come back. I want to give back all the love they gave me.’

And United posted a video welcoming the player on their website, with the player saying: ‘The opportunity to start a new challenge at Manchester United and in the Premier League is extremely exciting.

‘I have worked with many great managers in my career and, having met with Erik and heard his ideas, I can’t wait to work closely with him, his staff and my new team-mates in the coming years.

‘I’m ending one beautiful journey in Madrid whilst starting another in Manchester as determined as ever to win football matches, win trophies and make our fans proud by bringing success to this great club.
