Newcastle United and West Ham are reportedly among the five Premier League clubs interested in signing Man Utd midfielder Scott McTominay.
Well, this didn’t take long, did it?
Signing a new centre-midfielder has been United’s priority this summer. They wasted a lot of time targeting FC Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.
Casemiro might be great for Man United but it’s a deal that points to a club in chaos
With a move for him unlikely, Man Utd have looked elsewhere and they have now ‘reached an agreement’ to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants could receive as much as £70m for the Brazilian. This feels like an awful lot for a 30-year-old defensive midfielder, but it is Man Utd we’re speaking about here.

McTominay was one of quite a few United players who were criticised last season as the club finished sixth in the Premier League.
The Scotsman recently admitted that the 2021/22 campaign is “difficult” to talk about:

Speaking on life under Erik ten Hag, McTominay added: “It’s a fresh start.
“You’re playing for Man United, you’re going to get criticised. If you think you’re going to come and play for Man United and you’re not expecting to get a little bit of criticism here and there, then you’re in the wrong job because that’s just not how it works at this football club.
“Maybe you need to have a little look in the mirror because that’s just part and parcel of the game. Everyone gets criticised, that’s the world we live in, social media criticism. You only see it how much you want to see it. That’s part and parcel of it as well.”
McTominay may not be at United for much longer if 90min are to be believed.
They are reporting that the 25-year-old is ‘subject of Premier League interest’ following Casemiro’s move to Old Trafford.
Newcastle are said to be ‘long-term admirers’ of McTominay and they are in the market for a new midfielder with Jonjo Shelvey out injured.
