Jason Di Tullio Passes Away at the Age of 38

Four CF Montréal Players Selected by Canada's U-20 Team

MONTREAL – Today CF Montréal mourns the loss of the Club’s assistant coach Jason Di Tullio who died last night at the age of 38 following a battle with cancer.

In accordance with his last wishes, a private ceremony will be held. The Club will pay tribute to Jason in the coming days beginning with Saturday’s match at Stade Saputo.


“It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our colleague, teammate, and friend, who left us far too soon. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones,” said CF Montréal President and CEO Gabriel Gervais. “Jason was a great player and a great man. His energy was ever-present until his final moments. He himself symbolically compared his battle to a soccer game. Jason was extremely brave and fought until the end. He will forever be remembered in our minds and the memory of the Club as an iconic player and mentor.”

Born on January 6, 1984, in Montreal. Jason Di Tullio established himself as a key Club figure, both as a player and a coach.

Di Tullio began his professional career with the Montreal Impact in 2002 at the age of 18, while the team competed in USL. In 81 games with the Club, including six playoffs matches and 60 as starter, he collected 5,611 minutes of play, scoring one goal, and registering four assists from 2002 until his retirement in 2007.

Di Tullio served as an assistant coach with the Club’s first team from 2015 to 2017, returning to that role again in 2021. He had previously held the head coaching position with the Academy’s U17 team in 2019 and later as head coach of the U23 team from 2020 to 2021.

His prior involvement with the Academy included the positions of head coach of the U16 team in 2011 and 2012, and then the U18 team from 2013 to 2015. The former defender also served as technical director of the Association régionale de soccer de Lanaudière for one year.

On the international stage, Di Tullio represented Canada with the U-20 national team, which participated in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates, helping his country reach the second round of the competition for the second time in the program’s history.
