July 22, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Club de Foot Montreal News Release
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following a win over Toronto FC last weekend at Stade Saputo, CF Montréal (10-8-2) will head to the U.S. capital to take on D.C. United (5-11-3) this Saturday at 8pm EDT at Audi Field (TVA Sports, TSN, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690).
Still fourth in the Eastern standings, CF Montréal will be looking for its 11th win this season and third in Washington since 2012 (2-5-4).
For the match, Montreal will have to make do without the services of MLS All-Star defender Kamal Miller, following his ejection last game after receiving a second yellow card.
Saturday’s opponent sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference in 14th place. The hosts will be looking for their second win in five games after dropping results against Philadelphia (0-7), Columbus (2-2) and Minnesota (0-2).
Before hosting Montreal, however, D.C. United had special guests in town on Wednesday night, hosting FC Bayern Munich in a friendly as part of the German club’s Audi Football Summit and North American preseason training. The defending Bundesliga champions won the match 6-2.
On July 12, D.C. United also announced Wayne Rooney as the team’s new head coach. The former England international had previously captained the side in 2018 and 2019. He joins the squad after a two-year stint as head coach of Derby County in the EFL Championship.
