Joe Cole has hit out at critics of Mason Mount who continue to give the Chelsea midfielder stick online despite his good performances for the Blues.
The 23-year-old broke through into the Chelsea first team in the 2019-20 season under Frank Lampard after being on loan with him at Derby County the season before.
He had a brilliant first season in the team at Stamford Bridge and has improved over the last couple of campaigns to win his second consecutive Chelsea Player of the Season award in May.

Mount contributed 11 goals and ten assists for Chelsea in 27 Premier League starts last season but the midfielder still came in for flak online for his performances.
And Cole doesn’t understand fans that can still criticise Mount despite putting in some brilliant displays over the past three seasons.
“That’s the sign of the times in it, people don’t want to admit they were wrong,” Cole said in an interview with Football Daily.
“Anyone who’s not having Mason Mount needs to just really have a look at themselves.”
England captain Jordan Henderson said in May that Mount has the “world at his feet” after his international team-mate missed a crucial spot-kick in Chelsea’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup final.

“That is always a big thing for me. You’ve got to be respectful to the opponent, especially with players you play with from your national team,” Henderson told Sky Sports.
“You know how good they are and that they are good people, especially in penalty shootouts, it’s never nice for people to miss penalties. I knew he’d be feeling really down, and to be honest, he probably didn’t want me going over there thinking back, but I just wanted to give him a little bit of support because he’s a top player, a great lad, and he’s still very young.
“He’s got the world at his feet, and I am sure he will bounce back. When he gets the opportunity again, he’ll step up and put the ball in the back of the net.”
