MONTREAL – CF Montréal will look to advance to a second consecutive Canadian Championship final and third in four years this Wednesday night against Toronto FC, at 7pm, at BMO Field (91.9 Sports, TSN 690, OneSoccer).
Montreal advanced to the semifinals by shutting out Forge FC 3-0 at Stade Saputo on May 25. Sunusi Ibrahim scored a hat trick while Matko Miljevic collected three assists on the night.
Toronto FC defeated HFX Wanderers FC 2-1 on May 24 at the Wanderers Grounds in Nova Scotia. On June 4, the Torontonians were also crowned champions of the 2020 edition of the tournament, which was had been postponed due to the pandemic, winning in a penalty shootout 1-1 (5-4) against Forge FC at Tim Hortons Field.
In the other semifinal, also scheduled for Wednesday, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will host York United FC at BC Place. As determined by the draw held on March 9, the winner of this match will host the 2022 final in July.
CF Montréal is in the midst of a run of four games in 12 days. After this match in Toronto, the Club will be back at Stade Saputo to face Charlotte on Saturday, June 25, at 7:30pm, before facing the Sounders in Seattle on Wednesday, June 29 at 10pm.
