SAINT PAUL, Minn. — While the international break isn’t quite over yet, a majority of the Minnesota United roster were back in St. Paul to welcome SC Paderborn 07 from across the Atlantic. The game had no shortage of nervous moments courtesy of a motivated Paderborn side, but the Loons made enough plays with the scoring opportunities they had to come out of Saturday night’s game with a 4-3 win in this international friendly.

As the final score indicates, offense was definitely the flavor of the day. The Loons got things going right away in the 6th minute, when Bakaye Dibassy directed the first corner kick of the game off his head and into the net to put the score at 1-0.

He put a beauty of a free kick just over the heads of the Paderborn defensive line and into the top left corner of the goal, extending the Loons lead 4-2.

That doesn’t mean Paderborn had any intention of conceding to the hosts. In the 80th minute, Tachie’s cross found Jonas Carls who got enough space to shoot and score. While that brought the score to 4-3, that was as close as the visitors would get, as the Loons…
