BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU head coach Erwin van Bennekom has announced the addition of Shea O’Malley, a transfer from Ole Miss.

O’Malley, a native of Cary, N.C., played in seven matches during her freshman year in 2021. She logged 56 minutes and had one shot.

O’Malley, a defender/midfielder, was ranked the No. 25 recruit in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer. She was called up to the United States U17 Women’s National Team and made six starts with the U17 WNT in friedlies and tournaments in 2019 and 2020. She competed in the International Friendly Tournament, facing off against Spain, Germany and Sweden.

O’Malley played for the NC Courage Academy club program and helped the team qualify for the Girls Development Academy playoffs every year. They were the 2016 Southern Regional Premier League Champions.

“We are very excited to welcome Shea to our program,” van Bennekom said. “She will add technical quality and a high understanding of the game that falls in line with how we want to play. Shea is versatile and will be able to play a variety of positions for us.”
