EPL: Lampard Ecstasy as Everton Confirm Dramatic Survival

Everton manager Frank Lampard says his side’s come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace which sealed their survival is “one of the greatest moments of his footballing career”.

The Toffees ensured survival after trailing 2-0 to the Eagles, netting three second-half goals from Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the latter two coming in the final quarter of an hour.

“It’s one of the greatest moments of my footballing life and career,” Lampard told reporters.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have amazing times, especially at Chelsea as a player and a coach. But when you feel the feelings and desperation of what relegation brings to the table, it is different.”

Everton were staring down the barrel of a frenetic final day when down by two goals, but the win moves them to 39 points from 37 games.

Burnley moved out of the drop zone with their 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Thursday.

Burnley have 35 points from 37 games ahead of Leeds United who drop into the bottom three on goal difference only.

The Clarets host 12th-placed Newcastle United on the final day on Sunday, while the Whites go to 11th-placed Brentford.

Burnley interim boss Michael Jackson said after their draw: “Its not mission accomplished. The least we wanted was a point.

“Were a little disappointed not to get the three. Everything Ive seen tonight is what this group does. Theyve had to dig in, theyve had to work. Well need it again on Sunday.”
