EPL Fantasy Preview: Salah Injury, Gameweek 38 Goals

It’s the final gameweek of the Fantasy Premier League, but it’s definitely an opportunity to surge up the rankings or up your league leaderboard.

Key lessons

The big lesson from previous years is that gameweek 38 is often one full of goals. Looking back across the past five seasons, there’s always been more goals in gameweek 38 than on average across the season. In 2020-21 there were 3.1 goals per game in gameweek, compared to the season average of 2.69.

New Options

As we’ve said lately, new options don’t really pop up at this time of the season, but there’s a few key players to consider, led by off last gameweek’s top scorer James Maddison, whose Leicester City host Southampton fresh from his individual scores of 10 and 15 last weekend. He’s scored three goals and provided two assists in the Foxes’ past three league games.

Mohamed Salah is in doubt for this gameweek so coaches may have cash for transfers and Son Heung-Min will be strongly desired this gameweek with Tottenham’s important home clash with bottom club Norwich City looming as a prime time for big points. The Korean has the second most FPL points this season, including 42 across the past three gameweeks.

For similar reasons, Harry Kane may be worth chasing against the Canaries having netted four goals in their past four games, while he has brought in six double-figure scores since gameweek 26.

Jarrod Bowen looms as a great pick-up at 6.9m for someone who’s scored the fourth most points in FPL this season. Bowen has 27 points in the past two gameweeks, wit the Hammers taking on Brighton away.
