BIRMINGHAM, AL – Birmingham Legion FC announced Wednesday the launch of its ’99 Community Heroes’ campaign, in conjunction with a new partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. Throughout the rest of the 2022 season, Legion FC will honor up to 99 heroes from across the Greater Birmingham area for their commitment to making the Magic City a better place for all its residents.

Blue Cross shares that level of commitment to our community and has nominated the first of our 99 Community Heroes – Melissa McIntyre. McIntyre is a dedicated teacher at Liberty Park Elementary School and committed community leader in Liberty Park community. She will be recognized at halftime of the Legion FC game tonight, Wednesday, May 18, at 7:00 pm at Protective Stadium.

“It is an honor to partner with Legion FC and support the ’99 Community Heroes initiative,” said Tim King, Community Relations and Caring Foundation Manager, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. “We recognize there are many exceptional heroes across Alabama. This is a perfect opportunity to recognize some of the individuals making a positive impact in the lives of others and the communities they serve.”
