Liverpool and Man City players have been snubbed by Gabriel Agbonlahor as he has backed Son Heung-Min to win the league’s Player of the Year award.

Tottenham Hotspur paid around £22m in 2015 to bring the attacker to the Premier League from Bayer Leverkusen.

Son has consistently been a standout performer for Spurs over the past few seasons.

The 29-year-old is currently enjoying one of his best seasons to date for Tottenham on a personal level. He has grabbed 20 goals and seven assists from his 32 league appearances.

Mohamed Salah appears to be the frontrunner to win this year’s Player of the Year award in the Premier League. He has been involved in 33 goals in 34 games.

Despite this, Agbonlahor thinks Son has “been on fire” and is deserving of the accolade:

“You know who I would probably give it to? I know it might be controversial, but Son [Heung-min],” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

“He’s scored 18/19 Premier League goals [with] no penalties. He’s been on fire. Left foot, right foot, smashing them in. If I could vote for a player now for the Premier League Player of the Season, I’d pick Son.”

Elsewhere, Cesc Fabregas has offered Mikel Arteta advice on how Arsenal can beat Antonio Conte’s Tottenham:

“I’m sure Mikel analyses the opponent very well, but Arsenal will need a lot of intensity if they’re going to win this game.

“I know exactly how Antonio works. I know this methodology very well.

“If I was a coach, I could get by managing with all that he showed me in the two years I worked with him. Spurs are very well structured. They use the wing-backs very high. They are intense and a little bit like Arsenal. They try to build up from the back to draw the opponent out.
