Eddie Howe believes Bruno Guimaraes will be an important part of the Newcastle team for years to come, while the manager has also made a request to the club’s owners.
The Magpies beat Wolves 1-0 at St James’ Park on Friday to reach 34 points and move up to 14th place. They are now 10 points above the relegation zone – although the bottom three do have games in hand – with seven matches left.
Newcastle dominated for large periods, while Wolves were uncharacteristically sloppy.
However, Newcastle didn’t create too many clear-cut chances during the first half. Chris Wood did get the ball in the back of the net with 23 minutes on the clock, but this was ruled out due to offside.
The game opened up in the second half and Wolves began to threaten. However, Newcastle survived and took the lead in the 72nd minute.
Joelinton played Wood in and the January signing drew a foul from Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa in the box.

The striker smashed the resultant penalty into the net to mark his first Newcastle goal at St James’ Park.
Wolves couldn’t get an equaliser, meaning Howe’s men took home the important three points.
