After some up-and-down form, the predicted Manchester United team against Leicester City will have a familiar feel, and represents a chance for Harry Maguire to get fans on side.
The Red Devils have not been in the best of form over the past few games. Indeed, they were knocked out of the Champions League following a 2-1 defeat on aggregate to Atletico Madrid last time out.
They beat Tottenham 3-2 thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick before that. However, they suffered a 4-1 loss to rivals Manchester City the game prior.
Manchester United captain Maguire was in the news in the week. He was booed by England fans during the 3-0 win over Ivory Coast.
Interim United manager Ralf Rangnick was bemused by the treatment of his player, but seems to be behind him. It was “unusual” according to the manager, but it “won’t happen” at Old Trafford, he thinks.
Given Maguire is United’s captain, it seems he is likely to be given the opportunity to impress against his former club Leicester. Of course, Rangnick feels the centre-back is an “important” player.
The only injury concern for United is Edinson Cavani, whose calf injury will keep him out for the foreseeable future. As such, United will no doubt field a strong team for the fixture.
