Liverpool could prioritise ‘better value for money’ signing over Bellingham, says pundit

Liverpool may prioritise trying to sign Aurelien Tchouameni rather than Jude Bellingham this summer, according to Paul Robinson.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is understood to be eyeing a new midfielder this summer. The Reds have not replaced Gini Wijnaldum, who left of a free transfer for PSG last summer. And they are believed to be interested in Bellingham, who pushed his claims for a starting England place this week.

The Sun have claimed that Klopp is “desperate” to secure a record Liverpool transfer for a player he believes will become the “world’s best midfielder” in the near future.

But the profile of the 18-year-old is such that his value is soaring. Speaking on the Kenn7 YouTube channel Paul Joyce claimed Borussia Dortmund value Bellingham at £100m.

According to Bild, Real Madrid are also after the teenager which will undoubtedly drive up the price tag on the former Birmingham man.

And Gareth Southgate hinted this week that Bellingham may have to consider a move to England.

“The financial power of our league is blowing everyone else out of the water so our big teams are going to be the main players in those competitions as they have been in the last years really,” said the England boss.

“We’ve talked to him about his game this week. There are things, understandably for any player, for him to work on and for him some specifics we are looking for from him. But he is very coachable, wants to learn and is highly motivated.”
