Chelsea have reportedly slapped a hopeful price tag on Timo Werner after learning that the German striker wants to quit the club this summer.
The Blues splashed out £47.5million land Werner from RB Leipzig in 2020. In doing so they beat the likes of Liverpool to the signature of the much-coveted attacker at the time.
However, it became clear fairly quickly that Werner was struggling to adapt his style to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old then watched on as the Blues splashed out £97.5m to bring Romelu Lukaku back to the club.
But it’s fellow German Kai Havertz who is often preferred ahead of Werner and Lukaku for the Chelsea No.9 role by Thomas Tuchel.
And according to German website Sport 1, Werner is ready to call it quits at Stamford Bridge.
The report comes off the back of Werner admitting that playing under Germany coach Hansi Flick’s system is a better fit than the role he has at Chelsea.
Indeed, the former Leipzig star has scored more times for his country than he has hit Premier League goals for the Blues since his move.
This season, Werner has notched just once in 14 league outings. He has struggled with injuries and illness, however, and only started five of those games.
Dortmund chasing Werner deal
A report on Tuesday also claims that Borussia Dortmund are looking at Werner as a partner for Karim Adeyemi in attack.
However, the Blues will probably have to lower their asking price for the striker.
