Edinson Cavani is reportedly in talks with a new club over a summer transfer as his Manchester United exit ‘edges closer’.
Cavani has made 17 appearances for the Red Devils this season, registering two goals and one assist. His game time has been hampered by injuries and competition from Cristiano Ronaldo up front.
The Uruguay international appears set to leave Old Trafford once his contract expires in the summer. And there are plenty of sides looking to complete a free transfer swoop.
River Plate hold an interest, as do Italian giants Inter. The Nerazzurri are preparing to go back in for Cavani after failing to land him in 2020.
However, Fabrizio Romano states Cavani’s desire is to feature in La Liga before he retires. Alongside the Premier League, the striker has played in Ligue 1, Serie A and the Uruguayan top flight previously.
Atletico Madrid have been named as potential suitors. But it seems a rival Spanish club is now in the box seat to organise a deal.

According to The Sun, Cavani has held preliminary talks with Real Sociedad over a move to the Anoeta Stadium. The star’s exit from Manchester is now ‘edging closer’, the report claims.
Such a transfer would give the 35-year-old the chance to play at a decent level once again before hanging up his boots. Sociedad are hoping to achieve Europa League qualification this season – they sit sixth after 29 games, two points behind fifth-placed Real Betis.
