COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland men’s soccer head coach Sasho Cirovski announced the program’s 2022 spring schedule, which includes participation in the 10-team 2022 Spring Soccer Cup.
The Terps will play a five-match slate, including at least three matches against former ACC rivals along with a match against regional rival West Virginia. Maryland’s first three matches will be league play of the Spring Soccer Cup. At the end of league play, the finals matches, held at Wake Forest, will be determined after the 10 programs are seeded.
“Our spring schedule in 2022 is a tremendous test for our team,” Cirovski said. “I am thrilled to partner with some of the best programs in the nation for the Spring Soccer Cup and the event will give us the chance to measure up against national contenders and old rivals alike. It will be a fantastic event. In addition, our match with West Virginia will pit us against another quality team. I can’t wait to get back to training with our group to start preparing for these matches.”
The Terps will be joined by 2021 NCAA Champions Clemson along with Georgetown, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Pitt in the Spring Soccer Cup. Together, these 10 programs over the last four seasons have combined to earn 30 NCAA Tournaments bids, eight College Cup appearances and three National Championships.
Maryland opens SSC league play at Ludwig Field against Virginia Tech on March 5. The Terps will then travel to take on the defending national champion Clemson Tigers on March 12 before returning home to take on NC State (April 2). The Spring Soccer Cup finals will take place at Wake Forest on April 10.
The Terrapins will close their spring schedule at West Virginia on April 23.
